Banana Leaves

Banana leaves are the leaves of the banana tree and are used as decorative materials in a wide range of religious activity or as a complementary ingredient in culinary, as some countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Banana leaves contain large amounts of polyphenols in the same manner as tea leaves, in the form of EGCG, resulting in a distinctive aroma when added to complementary foods. Indonesian foods use banana leaves as a supplement, usually as a wrap or pad.
